State governments understand that utilizing IT effectively is the key to delivering excellent customer service. For instance, in Ohio the current strategic plan forthrightly states that the “use of State technology assets to increase the wellbeing of Ohioans and their health, property, security, livelihood, and prosperity is essential.” Measures include improving information security and privacy, building on cloud-smart infrastructure services, and strengthening emergency communications.

This translates into a recognition that interactions with state agencies must be viewed from the customer perspective. To that end, the Ohio government has required that agencies use its InnovateOhio platform to coordinate data and resources to improve the way agencies tackle their most challenging problems.

Learning Objectives:

Identify the ways that Innovate Ohio is being used to coordinate data and resources and streamline technology services across state agencies
Outline the components of enterprise shared services being provided, including cloud services, document management, and strengthening information security and privacy
Delineate the role of data center services in storage, servers, networks and communications, and disaster recovery, among others
