Getting Back on Track: The Future of Transit in Greater Washington

What does the future of public transit look like in the Greater Washington Region? How can we provide further financial sustainability to WMATA? How can our Region strengthen our public transit system with the rise in telework and change in travel patterns accelerated by the pandemic? What role will our local bus systems and a Regional bus rapid transit network play in moving people throughout Greater Washington?

While transit ridership in our area has yet to rebound to pre-pandemic levels, most systems are seeing a slow, steady increase in ridership. At the same time, local and state budgets are struggling to fill the funding gaps left by temporary, pandemic era federal aid.

Join NVC, Transportation Alliance, and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority CEO DJ Stadtler; WMATA Board Member Matt Letourneau; Reason Foundation Senior Managing Director of Transportation Policy Baruch Feigenbaum; and HNTB Vice President, National Practice Consultant Jane Williams on July 24th to hear about transit’s changing landscape in our community, and strategies to solve these important challenges.
