In 2026, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies will face an unprecedented and ongoing wave of  high-profile events that will test the limits of public safety efforts. 

From the FIFA World Cup across 16 North American cities to the year-long America250 Semiquincentennial celebrations and the midterm elections, these events will draw millions of participants and global attention. This situation will create complex security challenges due to geographic spread, long durations, and the ongoing threat of advanced cyber campaigns and lone-wolf attacks.  

This year’s Law Enforcement and Public Safety (LEAPS) Technology Forum will focus on Operational Readiness 2026: Tech Strategies for Large-Scale Security Challenges. The conference provides a vital platform to explore how emerging technologies can significantly improve law enforcement readiness and response to this unique threat environment. Specific, actionable topics will include: 

• Integrated Intelligence Platforms: Enabling true interoperability among fusion centers, joint operation centers, and an international police coordination hub for real-time information sharing across federal, state, and local partners. 

• Counter-UAS (Drone) Technologies: Implementing layered C-UAS mitigation strategies to protect stadiums, parade routes, and critical infrastructure. 

• Cybersecurity Innovations and AI Defense: Protecting election systems and event networks from AI-accelerated attacks and ensuring the integrity of critical law enforcement communications. 

• Advanced Analytics and AI: Utilizing machine learning for real-time behavioral analysis, accurate crowd modeling, and optimizing resource deployment across vast urban zones. 

• Secure Communications and Interoperability: Establishing resilient, multi-band communications infrastructure for seamless command and control during National Special Security Events (NSSEs). 

• Digital Forensics and Disinformation Response: Implementing proactive strategies to fight online radicalization, deepfakes, and uphold election integrity.

TechNet Augusta 2026 gives participants the opportunity to examine and explore the intricacies of the cyber domain. With assistance from the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and industry experts, the conference is designed to open the lines of communication and facilitate networking, education and problem solving. Leaders and operators also discuss procurement challenges the military, government and industry face during a time of uncertain budgets and runaway technology advances.

With assistance from the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and industry, this three-day conference is designed to open the lines of communication between the military and commercial sector and provide a space where government and industry professionals can discuss issues and share solutions surrounding cyber electromagnetic activities and unified land operations.
