Speaker and Presenter Information

Mr. Gary C. Wang was selected for the Senior Executive Service in March 2005. He assumed the Army Deputy Chief Information Officer/G-6 position on November 1, 2014. In this role, he oversees a $10 billion investment portfolio for implementation of an enterprise network infrastructure and strategy that deliver a responsive, effective, secure, collaborative and trusted environment of communication, information and technological superiority for the Army and its mission partners. Mr. Wang also manages Army information technology policy compliance and synchronizes delivery of operational command, control, communications, computers and IT capabilities to support warfighters and business users and enable joint information dominance.

Mr. Wang previously served as Director of Intelligence Systems and Architectures, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, where he had executive oversight of numerous intelligence programs across the Services and defense agencies.

Mr. Wang also held several positions at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), including Director of Corporate Operations and the Command Information Office, and Chief Technology Officer and Director of the Science, Technology and Engineering Department at SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific.

Mr. Wang began his federal career in 1983 at the Naval Underwater Systems Center as a project engineer. From 2001 to 2004, he was Program Manager for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Information Operations, where he was responsible for development and acquisition of Navy cryptologic, meteorological, operational effects and intelligence programs.

Mr. Wang also served as Executive Assistant for IT at the Program Executive Office for Space Communications and Sensors, Division Director for Technology Transition, and Assistant Program Manager for Combat Direction Finding.

Mr. Wang holds a B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin (1983). He has earned two Special Act Awards and three Navy Superior Civilian Service Awards.
