Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Design & Construction

Sensitive Information Facility Design and Construction (SCIF) – After attending this unclassified class, students will be able to oversee design and construction of a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) which meets official government requirements for a secure area where classified information is handled. The stringent physical security requirements; such as, access control systems, thickness of doors, the strength of concrete and the use of alarms, and acoustical controls which prevent eavesdropping, information exposure or “jamming”, and surveillance prevention will be discussed. The use of electronic media within the facility will also be explored. IDC-705 and UFC 4-010-05 form the basis of this course.

Speaker and Presenter Information

Doug Haines, owner of Haines Security Solutions, LLC (HSS), is a US US Air Force veteran with more than 45 years of law enforcement and security related experience, which includes teaching building design principles to architects, engineers, planners and security professional.

He’s an active member of the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) Architectural Graphics and CAD Symbols for Security Systems, Physical Security Working Group and RISE Scholarship committees.

He was selected as the Sandra Jones Volunteer of the Year 2016 by SIA for helping shape the Associates of Applied Science Degree Program in Security Systems Technology at Mercer County Community College.

He regularly contributes to security publications world-wide and is sought after to speak at international conferences on building design in the built-evironment and antiterrorism mitigation strategies.
