Speaking of Automation: DOD Agencies Eye Cybersecurity, Compliance, Infrastructure

Maintaining the myriad networks throughout the Department of Defense can mean the difference in mission operations. Whether providing critical information to troops at the tip of the spear, monitoring and protecting sensitive supply chains, or any of a thousand other responsibilities, military systems require “five 9s” reliability.

Challenges in this environment are compounded by malware threats, software constantly in need of patching and updating, compliance reporting and systems that may be at the end of their lifecycles. IT professionals responsible for some DOD systems may feel they are constantly rushing from one fire to another without ever being able to get ahead of their tasks.

Automating necessary but repetitive work, such as software patching, security monitoring and response and compliance reporting, is central to changing this paradigm. Defense agencies are exploring automation to streamline processes, save money and improve job satisfaction.
