FCW Workshop: Zero Trust Marching Orders and Milestones

This event qualifies for 4 CPEs

With cyberattacks on the increase at all levels of government, The White House issued a new executive order at the end of January that requires agencies to have a zero trust architecture in place by the end of FY 2024. The Office of Management and Budget followed with a memorandum (M-22-09) that laid out the requirements agencies must meet and the deadlines for completing the tasks outlined in the document.

OMB identified five areas of focus--Identity, devices, networks, applications and workloads and data—that must be addressed and provided guidance from NIST, CISA, GSA and DOD to help with the implementations.

At this event, executives from government and industry will explore best ways to meet the requirements, lessons learned from other agencies, as well as pointers to resources available through shared services and new procurement and contracting opportunities.

Attendees will come away from the event with a better understanding of:

  • How to implement strong Multi-Factor Authentication in a world without passwords
  • What improvements are needed in Endpoint Detection and Response tools and response
  • What email needs to be encrypted and why
  • What applications can and should be made internet accessible
  • Ways to use data to successfully automate security responses
  • New rules about retention and management of logs in cloud-hosted and agency-operated environments
