Launched in 2025, the Advancing Standardization for Critical and Emerging Technologies (ASCET) Center of Excellence is an initiative designed to accelerate U.S. leadership and engagement in international standards and standardization for critical and emerging technologies, such as quantum. ASCET supports private sector-driven engagement and capacity building by fostering collaboration across industry, academia, standards setting organizations, and government, among other stakeholders. ASCET was formed under a cooperative agreement between ASTM International and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). ASCET’s mission, as it relates to quantum technologies, is to: a) broaden and diversify U.S. stakeholder participation in quantum standardization; b) cultivate a new generation of quantum subject matter experts who participate in standards; c) support U.S. private sector priorities through training, tools, and targeted initiatives; and d) accelerate the development and implementation of impactful, industry-driven, international quantum standards.

The goals of this session are not only to introduce ASCET and its objectives to you but also to communicate the urgency of quantum standardization for U.S. based organizations and industry professionals at this juncture in quantum’s growth.

As federal agencies continue to modernize IT environments and accelerate cloud adoption, securing multi-cloud and hybrid architectures remains a critical mission priority. The Public Sector Cloud Security Summit will convene government and industry leaders to discuss strategies for implementing secure, scalable, and compliant cloud environments that align with Federal mandates and evolving cybersecurity guidance.

Discussions will focus on strengthening the federal cloud security posture through Zero Trust adoption, FedRAMP modernization, and alignment with OMB and CISA frameworks. Panelists will explore best practices for securing sensitive data, managing shared responsibility models, and integrating continuous monitoring and automation to improve resilience. Attendees will also examine procurement, workforce, and governance considerations that enable agencies to balance innovation with security while advancing mission delivery in the cloud.

As emerging technologies redefine what’s possible across government, GITEC 2026 convenes senior federal leaders, industry innovators, and academic experts to explore the path forward for secure, data-driven, and AI-enabled government operations. Over two and a half days of collaboration, attendees will examine how cybersecurity, zero trust, artificial intelligence, generative AI, and digital modernization are converging to advance mission outcomes and strengthen public trust.

Hosted in historic Charlottesville, Virginia, GITEC 2026 offers a unique forum for dialogue and partnership among the nation’s top public and private-sector technology minds. Guided by the GITEC Board—comprised of leaders from government, industry, and academia—this year’s programming features dual-track sessions, strategic discussions, and networking opportunities designed to translate bold ideas into tangible progress. From Sunday evening’s opening reception to Tuesday’s closing sessions, participants will gain forward-looking insights, forge lasting connections, and help shape the next era of federal technology and workforce innovation.

The Center for Quantum Technologies (CQT) is an NSF-funded Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) and a partnership between Purdue University, Indiana University, and the University of Notre Dame, and also several industry and government members. The mission of the CQT is to collaborate with industry and government stakeholders to identify compelling needs and challenges in quantum technologies, and then develop novel solutions to address these opportunities. Quantum technologies are governed by the physics of sub-atomic particles and have relevance to computing, sensing, imaging, metrology, communications, and cryptography. Because of their wide-ranging applicability, quantum technologies promise to be transformative, with uses in intelligence, financial security, computing, medicine, and navigation. Society has entered the second quantum revolution, but it is still in its infancy, and the nascent quantum industry requires significant fundamental research to mature novel technologies. In partnership with industrial and government members, the CQT researchers will use their expertise in quantum science and engineering to develop and transfer foundational knowledge into industry-friendly quantum devices, systems, and algorithms with enhanced functionality and performance. Additionally, the CQT will help train the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers to support the development of a critically needed quantum workforce. Students not only conduct research, but also help writing project reports, present at biannual meetings, and interact with industry and government members. This talk will give an overview of the IUCRC model along with the CQT mission, vision and research themes.
