USCG Industry Forum: National Strategy for the Arctic Region hosted by WHSR

Join the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable on October 28, 2013 for an industry forum with USCG Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger, Deputy Commandant for Operations on the USCG Arctic Strategy.

The Arctic region is the emerging maritime frontier and is significantly expanding the operating area of the USCG.  During this time of fiscal constraint and shifting resources, the USCG Arctic Strategy and its implementation over the next 10 years will have tremendous impact on the overall USCG strategy, resourcing and operations. A collaborative and innovative approach to address governance, coordination, and capability requirements across these areas is necessary to help the Coast Guard meets its Arctic mission responsibilities. 

The forum will consist of two sessions:

• Senior Executive Session with Vice Admiral Neffenger will focus on the national strategy, strategic objectives, and USCG implementation in the Arctic region.  This session is for senior executives (VP and above) who have responsibility for the oversight, development and implementation of strategic plans within their firm and is limited to one senior executive per company.

• Industry session with Captain Jon Spaner will focus on the three strategic objectives of the Arctic strategy:  Improving Awareness; Modernizing Governance; and Broadening Partnerships as well as implementation.  This session is limited to two representatives from each company. 

Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger is responsible for establishing and providing operational strategy, policy guidance and resources as needed to meet national priorities for Coast Guard missions, programs, and services.  Captain Jon Spaner leads the development of strategy and policy for emerging areas of focus including the Arctic region and border security.

This event is open to both members and non-members of the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable.
