The scale and complexity of our Nation’s IT infrastructure is increasing dramatically. These comprehensive large scale systems, which focus on improving healthcare, national security and critical infrastructure, are progressively requiring cross-agency and department collaboration to ensure success. As large-scale implementations increase, a number of challenges arise. They are developed and used by a variety of patrons with differing needs; constantly evolving; and, built using an assortment of parts with complex dependencies. Agencies must overcome these challenges plus agency restrictions to implement successful programs, but how? Perhaps from lessons learned from successful programs and how hurdles that appear throughout the process were overcome to secure a long-term success?
