Military Airlift & Mobility 2010

DoD and the Services have sustained a tremendous operational tempo through a period of unprecedented requirements, while being burdened with severe asset constraints. Performance has been improved by up to 50% in velocity and precision throughout the supply chain system, and almost $700 million in savings have been implemented. However, this ongoing stress, in terms of constant change and overwhelming requirements, has led to daunting sustainability questions.

New plans now being developed and implemented are going to force further transformation of the DoD airlift and mobility apparatus.

  1. Strategic Airlift has moved forward, but can the aging fleet keep up with projected plans and requirements?
  2. What is happening, right now, in the C-17, C-5, C130J, A400M, and C-27 programs? What about the JFTL?
  3. What impact will Sea Basing and other forward inventory options have on strategic airlift and mobility needs and capabilities?
  4. How do we reduce the cost in blood and dollars in supply chain stress and security with respect to transporting fuels and other energy supplies to theater and intra-theater?
  5. Are there interim solutions that will bridge the projected tactical airlift gap, and what new acquisition plans are being made to implement them?
  6. What are the individual Service mobilization challenges? What are the potential solutions?
  7. Will the utilization of the full array of airlift options (military, commercial air transportation, foreign airlift, world wide express, etc.) continue to be effective at fulfilling the requirement gap in the near future?

These are questions that must be addressed, and they will be exhaustively examined at this intensive one-day Executive Forum. In addition to leading government organizations, we will also get updates on the latest capabilities from prime contractors, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin.

The objective of this one day conference is to provide a series of keynote style addresses to discuss joint initiatives, individual programs, and acquisition strategies aimed at advancing the DoD mobility and airlift support functions forward into the second and third decade of this century.
