Moving to the Cloud... What's the Best Approach for Me?

Cloud computing doesn’t have to be an either/or proposition. That is, agencies don’t have to choose either a commercial public or government-owned private cloud once they decide to move data, applications and workloads out of their individual agency data centers.

Another approach that’s been less-often discussed is the hybrid cloud. In the hybrid model, a given system may use both commercial and private clouds depending on the demand for service, sensitivity of data, and technology required by a given system component or process.

Join Federal News Radio for this complimentary one-hour video training webinar as we will explore how agencies are tackling the tough decisions and, with some planning, realizing the best of both worlds.

Speakers:

Sandra Kunz  Sandra Kunz, Director of
Production Operations and Infrastructure, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Peace Corps

Harry Lee  Harry Lee, Senior Computer Scientist for Infrastructure, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Census Bureau

Mary Jean Schmitt  Mary Jean Schmitt, Federal Business Development Manager, NetApp

David McLaughlin, CEO and Owner, Blue River IT

Tom Temin Tom Temin, Anchor on The Federal Drive on Federal News Radio 1500 AM, will moderate an interactive discussion among government and industry leaders about overcoming the challenges agencies are facing as they implement cloud computing.

Learning Objectives:
  • Describe the decision process in building the case for cloud.
  • Explain criteria used to select a cloud supplier.
  • Describe how to determine whether a private, public or hybrid model is best for your agency.
  • Highlight the differences of physical vs. logical isolation depending on the type of workload in a cloud.
  • Review next steps after the Federal data center consolidation initiative.

*Training Certificates will be e-mailed to attendees after the event.
