Intelligence and National Security Summit

Intelligence has existed as an activity of the U.S. government since the founding of the Republic. While its structure has evolved, its core mission has endured unchanged: to protect the nation with the information it provides; to produce that information in a way that protects the privacy and liberty of all citizens; and to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars invested in intelligence capabilities. History has shown that even through periods of profound societal and technological change it is possible both to have effective intelligence and to protect individual freedoms, as long as public trust in both can depend on appropriate accountability and transparency.

For this year’s Summit, a planning committee consisting of over 35 intelligence and national security experts developed an agenda that will bring together over 70 national thought leaders from the public, private and academic sectors to encourage a strategic dialogue about the issues of intelligence effectiveness, transparency and accountability.

Over the course of two days, Summit participants will explore imperatives in current and future intelligence missions, investment and policy in five plenary sessions and four tracks offering a total of 16 breakout sessions.  The four tracks will focus on cyber, strategic assessment, technology, and Intelligence Community imperatives. Each will examine specific capability and investment priorities in domains that are essential to effective, transparent and accountable intelligence operations today and in the future.
