3 Day MBA in EPC Contracts

Understand the conception and management of EPC contracts in the oil and gas sector.

The 3 Day MBA in EPC (Engineer, Procure and Construct) Contracts will look at why the concept was developed; what variations there have been on this central theme; and when their use is desirable, and when it is not. It will also consider the risk profiles for both the client and the contractor, and how these differ from traditional contracts.

During the course, you will be heavily involved in discussion of these contracts, and their management, particularly in relation to risk areas such as interface, responsibility for design, and lump sum pricing. Examine both real and theoretical examples of the use of these contracts in their various forms. You will also be encouraged to bring forward issues you have experienced for discussion and debate.

By attending this course, you will:

- Understand what "EPC" means, and how this type of contract differs from other types of contract (such as Design and Build or Turnkey).
- Master negotiating techniques for the tendering process.
- Learn how to select an appropriate contracting model and appreciate the consequences of making the wrong selection.
- Examine a real EPC contract to understand the development, formation and issues involved in negotiations with contractors.
- Understand how to manage international contracts.
- Learn how to deal with conflict and practise negotiation strategies.
