AFCEA Bethesda's Monthly Breakfast

Government-wide Initiatives: Impact on People, Resources, Budget and Program Delivery
The Administration and Congress are focused on enhancing program delivery while reducing operating costs. In order to achieve this it is critical that evolving IT trends like shared services are harnessed to improve information integrity, security, availability and value across the enterprise. By combining strategic IT solutions across the IT infrastructure the federal government will be well positioned to drive successful transformation. But, successful acquisition and change management strategies are critical to making shared services work.

Shared services can bring the multiple approaches of each agency together, assess the key business needs of each organization, identify best practices among the entities and use collected information to develop a standard, efficient, repeatable and less costly way to deliver quality, timely, services at the least possible cost.

Various programs have made significant progress in the area of shared services but others have taken a wait and see attitude. How have these programs been successful? What have they learned that helps them be more consistent and further streamline behaviors and tools?

Join AFCEA Bethesda on October 23, 2014 for “Government-wide Initiatives: Impact on People, Resources, Budget and Program Delivery” an executive breakfast discussion on shared services, the technology required to implement them and the strategic sourcing and change management strategies required to make them successful.

Panelists will discuss:

  • Success stories with shared services in the areas of human resources, payroll, financial management and procurement
  • The future of shared services for data analytics, enterprise data warehousing management, data center consolidation, security, mobile and cloud
  • Changing business behavior and business efficiencies to leverage shared services
  • Identifying funding to make the transition to new processes and tool sets
  • The role of executive leadership and program managers in helping dedicated personnel think and work differently
