Designing Secure Buildings
A workshop designed to familiarize students with design principles used in preventing and detecting criminal activity and reducing the effects of acts of terrorism on the safety of personnel and damage to facilities and critical infrastructure. Specific modules include; Terrorism Ideologies, Security Basics, Philosophies and Design Strategies, Blast Fundamentals, Glazing and Window Systems, Lighting, Vehicle Barrier Selection, Electronic Security System, Perimeter Security, Weapons of Mass Destruction Use, and Preserving Historical Buildings.
Speaker and Presenter Information
Doug is a career security professional. He spent most of his younger days working for the U.S. Government, while in the Air Force and later as a civilian, primarily overseas. He has over 45 years of experience in conducting physical security vulnerability assessments and risk analysis. His company specializes in teaching building design principles to architects, engineers, facility managers, planners, and security professionals around the globe.
