Summit on the Cost of Government 2015

Each year, Governing hosts a national gathering of senior state and local level finance leaders to address some of the most pressing challenges, emerging trends, and new opportunities in public sector finance. The annual Summit on the Cost of Government convenes a distinguished group of state budget officers, treasurers, and auditors, along with municipal CFOs and other county and municipal government executives. As an invitation-only “meeting of the minds”, this event is designed to create a shared space for our nation’s foremost experts, thought leaders, and practitioners in public finance to share ideas, network with peers, and get inspired. 
 
The 2015 Summit on the Cost of Government

The pressure keeps rising as governments grapple with the economic volatility and social exigencies we have come to see as the new normal. Beyond prudent fiscal stewardship, there is a growing need for visionary leadership and creative action in state and municipal finance. Global market dynamics, demographic and environmental changes, and rapid developments in technology create obstacles and challenges just as they break down old barriers and present new opportunities. The 2015 Summit on the Cost of Government will examine the key concerns affecting the fiscal health and stability of jurisdictions. Prominent thought leaders and issue experts will share their insights on the big trends and innovations and discuss how government finance leaders can harness those forces proactively to help build more competitive, thriving, and resilient communities.
