About the Conference
The mission of the Simulation National Leadership Conference is to orient VHA Leadership about the vision and strategy to address simulation training regarding:
- Education and research needs.
- Evidence supporting the use of clinical simulation
- Various modalities of clinical simulation.
- Educational processes.
- Current technologies.
- Leadership's personal roles in facilitating the strategic plan.
Background on the Conference
In July 2009, the Acting Under Secretary for Health (USH), Veterans Health Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs approved the establishment of a national simulation training, education, and research program for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This conference is the first of this nature for VHA leadership relating to clinical simulation education and training.
Target Audience
The audience for this conference includes VHA leadership such as Medical Center Directors, Associate Directors, Nurse Executives, and/or Chiefs of Staff, with clinical and non-clinical backgrounds. Each Medical Center should plan to send one representative to this conference from the Medical Center leadership quadrad. In addition to one member of the quadrad, the VISN SimLEARN Champions and CMOs will also be in attendance.
