SANS Data Breach Summit 2016

This event qualifies for 8 CPEs

For every organization, data breach is a major risk.  It's not a matter of whether your organization will be breached; it's when, and - most importantly - how bad the damage will be.  You likely have a response plan in place.  In fact, your organization has purchased insurance against this eventuality.  But your response in the first hours after initially discovering the "incident," which is later confirmed to be a "breach," will be crucial to mitigating financial and reputation damage.  You already know your organization isn't bulletproof, but is your response plan battle tested?

This summit is an advanced exercise.  It brings together CISOs, risk managers, communication execs, insurers, attorneys, and security professionals to engage in highly realistic war-gaming.

Under one scenario you encounter a "security incident" and you scramble to ascertain whether it is indeed a "breach."  Under another scenario you discover the worst has happened - your organization has been breached and sensitive data is at risk.
-  How do you respond?
-  Whom must you notify, and when?
-  What steps must you take to comply with laws and industry standards?
-  How do you communicate to your many stakeholders - customers,
partners, employees, those whose PII may have been affected?
-  What is the role of your cyber insurer, and will you two have a constructive relationship.

SANS will feature advice and case studies from experts and veterans among your peers.  Then you'll have the opportunity to engage in interactive hypotheticals where you, experts and peers put plans and knowledge to the test.  Think you can win the battle?  Let us help you find out before your organization engages this fight.

- Chief Information Officers (CIO)
- Chief Information Security Officers (CISO)
