The DoD has greatly expanded the requirements on contractors for safeguarding “covered defense information” through DFARS provision 252.204-7012. Among these is a requirement for “multifactor authentication for local and network access.” Contractors – and their extended value chains of subcontractors and suppliers – must comply by the end of 2017.
