The Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) National Capital Area (NCA) Chapter is hosting our annual conference at The Westin, Tysons Corner, on Friday, October 21, 2016. The conference will be a full-day event featuring presentations by proposal and business development professionals.
This year’s conference theme is: “Engaging the Next …”
The concept of this theme is to empower oneself and/or others in our field. Whether it be helping new proposal/business development professionals learn the basic processes/procedures and tricks of the trade; to fostering better relationships with our customers, both internal and external. It’s about bridging gaps and enhancing skills in order to benefit the profession as a whole.
Here are a few more details about each Track:
- “Engaging the Next….Tools/Techniques” – this track will target areas such as the usual tips/tricks/tools, but also leveraging Social Media and also staying relevant in our field
- “Engaging the Next….Professional development” – this track will cover career progression, enhancing ones skills in other areas of the business such as pricing, technical, etc.
- “Engaging the Next….Generation” – this track will cover proposal management basics, capture management fundamentals, and aspects of the Business Development (BD) lifecycle in general will be captured, as well as millennials in the workforce.
- “Engaging the Next…Customer” – this track will focus on capture and BD in general, as well as procurement strategies, and any discussions on varying customers such as Fed/Commercial/International/etc.

Speaker and Presenter Information
Leadership speaker and author Pierre Quinn is on a mission to help others live, learn, and lead with confidence. A passionate storyteller and gifted communicator the most frequently asked question after his presentations is “When can you come back?” His personal journey as a leader has led to invitations from across the country to share the insights he’s gained.
Avantika Singh (Moderator) is responsible for managing pricing strategy, cost volumes, and pricing models for clients in various industries, primarily Government contractors, at The McKelvey Group. Her skills include creating and implementing pricing strategies and approaches, preparing pricing models and cost volumes, from every stage of the proposal cycle, be it capture planning or post award analysis and evaluations. Despite all that, she does have a personality, and routinely plans hiking trips into rainforests around the world.
Beth Goode, Executive Consultant of Richter & Company, successfully provides clients with Federal capture support, with a focus on design engineering and strategy consulting. She possesses in-depth experience in the full range of business development activities, including Solution Development, Costing/Pricing Specialist, Competitive Analyst and Price To Win Analyst. Prior to joining Richter & Company, Ms. Goode was a Senior Competitive Intelligence and Competitive Pricing Analyst at Deloitte.
Matt McKelvey is President and CEO of The McKelvey Group, and is widely respected as a subject matter expert in both commercial and Federal marketplaces. His wise words are “Pricing doesn’t have to be as tough as an Iron-man”, and Matt knows since he’s done two of those.
