NCIC 2016 Summit of the States

The Council of State Governments’ National Center for Interstate Compacts, or NCIC, is pleased to announce the convening of the first Summit of the States on Interstate Collaboration on Dec. 12-13 in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

Throughout its 83-year history, The Council of State Governments has been at the forefront of promoting multistate problem-solving and advocating for the role of the states in determining their respective futures. Since 2005, NCIC has played an integral role in the development of numerous interstate compacts, tracking the progress of more than 200 active compacts, researching innovative policy options for the states and bringing the states together to build consensus on multistate solutions to national issues.

The two-day Summit of the States on Interstate Collaboration continues CSG’s tradition of bridging policy gaps between the states and facilitating the development of interstate solutions to increasingly interdependent issues.

The summit will promote successful compact approaches, foster research directed at developing new interstate partnerships, and support the increased use and understanding of interstate compacts. Furthermore, this national event will be an opportunity for state policymakers, compact administrators and other interested parties to discuss issues of interstate policy cooperation and network on the use of interstate compacts in a range of policy areas.
