Vulnerability Assessments and Risk Analysis Methodologies


This event qualifies for 24 Physical Security Engineering


A variety of five qualitative and quantitative methodologies are discussed in detail during this three-day workshop. The “do’s & don’t” of report writing are covered. Field evaluations are conducted. Students will learn the differences between qualitative and quantitative risk analysis. They will use a variety of methodologies by evaluating single or multiple buildings and critical infrastructure nodes. This workshop is very “hands-on” with numerous field exercises assessing lighting, electric systems, drinking water, perimeter. They will be able to write a comprehensive report detailing their findings in a clear and concise manner, so that decision makers can allocate funding and resources more effectively.

Owner, Haines Security Solutions

Doug is a career security professional.  He retired from active duty with the US Air Force in 1993. He spent the next 20 years working for the U.S. Government, primarily overseas in Europe.  He has over 45 years of experience in conducting physical security vulnerability assessments and risk analysis.  He’s been teaching these concepts to architects, engineers, planners, facility managers, security professionals and others involved in developing mitigation strategies and building design planning since 2006. His methodologies have been taught to college students, county level emergency managers, the National Park Service and the DOD.
