Guidance on Cross Connection Control Program Selection and Responsibilities

Cross Connection Control programs using containment protection practices reduce the risk to the community from actual or potential contamination; however, internal backflow can occur because of cross connection at the point of use. In this webinar, risks and benefits of containment versus internal isolation programs will be assessed for hazard mitigation, and the responsibilities of both the administrative authority and the water purveyor will be addressed. This webinar delivers simple tools available to the administrative authority or purveyor that reduce hidden cross-connection risk as work continues toward the goal of protecting drinking water from backflow.

Included Webinar Highlights:
• Advise program managers in recognizing and mitigating risk of cross connections by exploring the causes of backflow
• Outline the responsibilities and benefits of both containment and internal isolation programs
• Offer guidance to program managers to enable them to make decisions to solve backflow issues and improve service and performance
• Present the importance of setting goals and developing a plan
