Digital Transformation: Laying the Foundation for IT Modernization

With the new administration, federal agencies are under intense pressure to modernize or replace outdated, inefficient legacy systems and take a more innovative, cost-effective approach to delivering IT services. To be effective—to bring the gains in performance and efficiency that the administration is seeking—modernization efforts must address two key factors: the underlying network infrastructure and the associated digital processes.

In its draft “Report to the President on IT Modernization,” the White House’s American Technology Council identifies network modernization and consolidation as a pillar of IT modernization efforts. “This report envisions a modern federal IT architecture where agencies are able to maximize secure use of cloud computing, modernize government-hosted applications, and securely maintain legacy systems,” the report states.
