Leading Business Practices in Asset Management Webinar

Although asset management practices can help utilities manage water infrastructure more effectively, there is still an unfortunate perception that they are difficult to implement. This webinar debunks that perception by highlighting asset management best practices that any organization can implement.

The webinar features three case studies from utilities considered to be leading-practice utilities in asset management. Each case study will cover a different element of asset management leading practice (e.g., capital planning, maintenance optimization, risk management). The goal is to share what current asset management leading-business practices look like and allow attendees to hear directly from utilities implementing these practices. The utilities were identified as leading-practice utilities based on the 2015 AWWA “Establishing the Level of Progress in Utility Asset Management Survey,” and the case studies were documented in the 2016 AWWA “Leading Business Practices in Asset Management Case Study Report.” The case studies include both a large and a small utility.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Create a vision for best practice within their own organizations.
  2. Chart a course to achieve the visions based on practical steps the presenters outline.
  3. Visit the AWWA Asset Management Web Page to learn more about AM.
  4. Contact a peer utility and ask how it achieved AM leading practice.
  5. Assess their own AM maturity and determine where they may improve through review of the AWWA Leading Practices in AM Survey.
