Employment Law Update in Alabama

Get up to speed on the most significant Alabama employment law and labor issues.

The application of the law is constantly changing, whether through legislative action, judicial decisions, or administrative agency interpretations. Sensational media stories can also drive increased filings of lawsuits. All of these actions may require adjustment to Human Resources policies and practices. This topic will help you respond to and get out in front of the national discussions on sexual harassment, sexual orientation issues, and the fast-growing field of disability litigation. It will also keep you abreast of administrative agency developments at the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB.

Learning Objectives

- You will be able to describe the law applicable in Alabama regarding sexual

   orientation discrimination.

- You will be able to identify the state and federal causes of action that a victim

   of harassment might bring.

- You will be able to discuss whether an employee's proposed accommodations

   are reasonable or legally required.

- You will be able to explain the intersection of multiple laws that address the

management of employees with health conditions.
