Defense Healthcare

The Department of Defense Healthcare costs have surged by more than 140% over the last eight years, a reflection of the trends that are propelling the current national discourse on Healthcare Reform. Prolonged conflicts overseas have stressed the Services' manpower capacities to their limits. At the same time, transformational advancements in Battlefield Medicine and Information Technologies are being funded, developed and implemented at a fantastic rate.

Enormous efforts are being applied to the upgrading of systems and technology for Battlefield Medicine, Telemedicine, Operational Medicine, Medical Force Readiness, Family Support, Force Optimization, and Health Assurance. Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury are leading the way in fighting the horrendous effects of brain injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. The national attention to Healthcare Reform has increased the pressure to unify and update the entire Defense Healthcare System, with the goal of integrating Electronic Health Records into and throughout all of the disparate sections of the Military Health System.

This outstanding conference brings together senior level military, government and industry experts from key defense healthcare organizations who will provide you with invaluable insight into how OSD, the Services and government organizations are planning to transform, upgrade, reduce costs, and prepare for future missions and threats. What is the status and forecast for programs like Global Health Surveillance, Human Research Protection, Reserve Health Readiness, Warrior Care, Wounded Warrior, AHLTA, and the many other Defense Healthcare projects? How do we provide near real time Critical medical information to the front line medical contingent, to clinics and hospitals around the globe, and across the spectrum of post deployment healthcare, including the entire TriCare Management Activity, and the Veterans Health Administration, as well as ensure interoperability with commercial systems worldwide? What do near and out-year budgets for defense healthcare spending look like?
