National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) IT Security Day

FBC and NARA are working together to coordinate the 4rd Annual National Archives and Records Administration IT Security Day. Exhibitors will be on-site to share information and demonstrate their latest security products. FBC has great support from our sponsor within the Office of Information Services, whom will help to promote the show and organize security related sessions.

Sessions will be held in conjunction with the expo relating to various security topics, such as: Incident Response, Data Loss, Intrusion Detection and Persistent Threat. Exhibitors are invited to attend all sessions. In addition, there are 2 open slots for industry speaking opportunities.

The 2010 IT Security Day drew around 200 attendees and 2010 should be an even greater success. Attendee invitations will be sent to the National Archives in DC, Government Printing Office, NIST, NSA, PG Plaza and the FDA; including 50 local area CIO's.

Having the Office of Information Services involved means attendees will come from any or all of their divisions, including:
• Electronic Records Archives Program (NHE);
• Information Technology Security Staff (NHI);
• Information Technology Policy & Administration Division (NHP);
• NARA Records Management Staff (NHR);
• Information Technology Services Division (NHT); and
• Systems Development Division (NHV)

NARA continues to enhance perimeter defenses, access control, remote access, incident response capability, and system security configurations; and update their personnel to be consistent with revised National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines. Hosting a Security Day is one step in helping NARA to accomplish their IT Security awareness.
