The Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau, in coordination with HospitalityLawyer.com, is producing the first-ever Global Congress on Legal, Safety, and Security Solutions in Travel the only conference that places legal, safety and security solutions for the travel industry under one roof.

The first Global Congress, presented in coordination with the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be held August 25-28, 2011, in Houston, Texas. Houston, situated centrally in the United States, is an international gateway city with 92 consulates and the headquarters for major travel-related businesses and associations. It is also the home of the renowned Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston, whose namesake strongly championed the philosophy that global travel could bring about world peace.

Sarah Altschuller, Foley Hoag Sarah Altschuller has been a member of Foley Hoag's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice since 2003. In this role, Sarah advises a wide range of multinational companies regarding the development and implementation of CSR strategies, policies, and procedures. She provides counsel regarding corporate interactions with socially responsible investors, and advice on stakeholder engagement with local communities, host governments, and non-governmental organizations. She also conducts site-level human rights and labor rights impact assessments, as well as due diligence efforts. Stephen Barth, Attorney, Professor, Founder of HospitalityLawyer.com Stephen Barth, author of Hospitality Law and coauthor of Restaurant Law Basics, is an attorney and the founder of HospitalityLawyer.com. As a professor at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, University of Houston, he teaches courses in hospitality law and leadership. He has over twenty years of experience in hospitality operations, including line positions, management, and ownership. Prior to coming to IHG, Brad's law enforcement career included service as a Special Agent, United States Army Criminal Investigation Command; Special Agent, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and; Chief of Staff for the Georgia State Patrol. He graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in Criminology in 1975. Aliza Carrino, Corporate Counsel, Marriott International, Inc. Aliza Carrino is Corporate Counsel for Marriott International, Inc., a global hospitality company that owns, manages and franchises more than 3500 properties worldwide. Ms. Carrino is a member of the Lodging Operations Group of the Law Department that provides general legal services to Marriott owned and managed hotels worldwide. Alan Orlob, Vice President of Global Safety and Security, Marriott International As Vice President of Global Safety and Security for Marriott International, Alan oversees all safety and security operations and directs the crisis management program. Prior to working for Marriott, Alan was the corporate security director for Al Ghanim International, managing a close protection detail and had been the Director of Public Safety at Snowbird, Utah. He served with U.S. Army Special Forces, both active and reserve for a total of 24 years. Mr. Orlob is a member and former committee chairman of the U.S. State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), an executive committee member of the Orange County, California, and Sheriff’s Department Homeland Security Advisory Council. Gabrielle Patrick, Mutope-Johnson Gabrielle Patrick has been in the international legal arena for several years. As a legal practitioner of 11 years, she brings with her a wealth of commercial and corporate expertise including in the industries of leisure, real estate and finance. Her qualification as a US/UK/Caribbean Attorney-at-Law, coupled with her hands-on experience brings specialized international expertise in business and business enterprise. Prof. Sree Sreenivasan, Dean of Student Affairs, Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism Sree Sreenivasan is a tech evangelist and skeptic (he can explain how he's both) specializing in explaining technology to non-techies. He is a professor and dean of students affairs at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where he teaches in the digital media program, including media entrepreneurship. A former TV technology reporter on WABC and WNBC, he is now a contributing editor at DNAinfo.com, a Manhattan-news startup he helped launch in 2009 with Joe Ricketts (the founder of Ameritrade and whose family just bought the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field). Dr. Thomas H Treutler, Founder and CEO of FlyClinic Dr. Treutler, Founder and CEO of FlyClinic, Latin America's first integrated online health travel platform, is Colombia's foremost expert on Medical Travel Business. He outlines in his presentation whether or not standard safety protocols are needed in Medical and Health Travel and makes specific recommendations to decision makers in the field. Wendy Wilkinson, DBTAC-Southwest ADA Center Wendy is an attorney and Project Director of the DBTAC-Southwest ADA Center. The Center is a project of the ILRU (Independent Living Research Utilization) program, which is based at TIRR Memorial|Hermann. She also served as Principal Investigator on Legal Protections for People with Disabilities, a project of the Research and Training Center on Managed Care and Disability. Wendy has published a number of articles on the Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability related issues. In 1995 she was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dennis Wolfe, Virtual Imaging Dennis Wolfe is currently the North American Sales Manager and the Western Hemisphere Business Manager-Security Products for Virtual Imaging, a Canon USA Company. He holds degrees in Radiology, Radioisotopes, Health Physics, Business and Marketing. He has been involved with Radiology Technology in the medical and security marketplace since 1972, holding a variety of management positions didactically, clinically and commercially. Dennis has authored and co-authored a number of publications primarily focused on utilizing slot scan technology for trauma imaging, whole body security imaging and how they relate to radiology safety for the technologists and operators.
