Connected Officers: Increasing Situational Awareness and Improving Officer Safety with Smartphones

The Chicago Police Department has embarked on an ambitious effort to equip thousands of officers with smartphones that provide full access to real-time mission-critical information. The agency is also piloting an effort to use the smartphone as the primary computing device, thus supporting in-field, in-car and in-station operations. The result: Improved capabilities and significant potential for cost savings.
