Records Management Reform: An Innovative look at Records Best Practices

Recent White House and National Archives and Records Administration memorandums have directed Agencies to reform records management practices by creating a framework that will provide a foundation for leveraging information to improve agency performance and reduce unnecessary costs and burdens.

Through these mandates, agencies must update current plans for improving records management programs, paying particular attention to electronic records. The Records Management Directive focuses on:

  • Promoting records management policies and practices that enhance the capability of agencies to fulfill their statutory missions;
  • Maintaining accountability through documentation of agency actions;
  • Increasing open Government and appropriate public access to Government records;
  • Supporting agency compliance with applicable legal requirements related to the preservation of information relevant to litigation; and
  • Transitioning from paper-based records management to electronic records management where feasible.

Participate in this one-hour webinar for an innovative look at records best practices and learn how to:

  • Comply with the specifications of these memos and the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles (GARP) Maturity Model
  • Assess why your agency is not complying
  • Implement an electronic records plan
  • Promote policy and open government
