Assessment: The Key to Cloud Success

Join Peter Famiglietti (Partner Development Manager - Public Sector - Canada, Latin America, Caribbean Amazon Web Services) as he interviews Tidal Migrations’ Founder and CEO, David Colebatch regarding their recent engagement helping a Canadian municipality evaluate their applications for cloud readiness.

They will explore the tools and methodologies that can enable Canadian public and private sector clients to accelerate that application assessment effort and generate data driven results for a much lower cost.

Peter and David will dive into the results of a real-world case that identified and compared that three scenarios needed to make informed application-centric cloud adoption decisions:

• On-premise costs to host the application
• Estimation of AWS hosting costs after optimizing licensing and EC2 instance sizes.
• Estimation of AWS costs using a transformational approach that includes use of cloud native technologies and architectures.

This engagement helped the city understand the options and the estimated annual costs of hosting each application in each of the three distinct scenarios.

We’ll show specific examples where moving to serverless architectures would reduce monthly costs by 87% vs the on-prem costs. Following the interview and presentation of the project results, there will be time for audience questions for David and Peter.
