Service Contract Act and Davis Bacon Act: Compliance and Audit Survival Tips

The Mid America Government Industry Coalition, Inc. known as MAGIC announced the first of a series of training seminars.  The seminars will cover the basics of the Service Contracting Act and Davis Bacon Act. The first session is on April 4th at the Aerospace Collaboration and Partnership Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.  A second session is to be held on April 5th in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Native American Business Enterprise Center.  Both sessions will run from 9 am to 2 pm.

Presenters will be from the US Department of Labor speaking on Compliance and Audit Survival Tips and Josh Peterson from FCE Benefits, a third party administrator for a number of wage and hour labor laws addressing Is Cash always King? Benefits vs Cash.

MAGIC, a regional trade association based in Oklahoma City, promotes an atmosphere that allows companies to secure new business independently or through strategic alliances. The membership is primarily companies and associations working in the federal contracting area and located in the Midwestern states.

Kay Bills, president, “MAGIC federal contracting members and their subcontracting partners struggle in keeping up with the constantly changing compliance requirements of our industry.   Mistakes in wage and hour by a prime contractor or the failure of their subcontractor to understand the Service Contracting or Davis Bacon Acts can have severe consequences for the companies. Ignorance of the law is especially onerous with these two acts.”

“We will also focus on the ramifications of the Service Contracting Act and Davis Bacon Act for federal contractors to consider during the proposal stage.  MAGIC members are experience federal contractors and will share their expertise with the attendees.”

“There is a small fee for these activities and we are setting up private appointments with the presenters in the afternoon. Contact Kay Bills at 405-455-3800 or kay@magic-usa.org for an appointment or to register for the seminars in Oklahoma City or Tulsa.”

Contractors can register to attend at www.magic-usa.org.  The fee is $75 for non-members and $50 for MAGIC members and includes lunch.
