GOVERNING Summit on Sustainability - 2012

This year’s summit offers the opportunity for public sector leaders to learn about how to connect, design, and implement sustainability strategies for their region.

Coordinating smart, sustainable, livable communities depends on regional collaboration, intergovernmental cooperation and the alignment of policy, governance and program management.

Summit attendees will be called on to share current strategic plans and projects under consideration along with the barriers and problems for implementation for their jurisdictions.

A post-event summary planning guide capturing the summit’s conversations will be distributed through GOVERNING’S national network.

The agenda will address policy, governance and management through moderated discussions about:
• Economic development
• Energy (efficiencies, smart grids, smart water, and smart buildings)
• Finance models
• Infrastructure
• Transportation
• Partnerships
• Leadership and Policy

We are also organizing guided walking and/or biking tours with the City of Santa Monica to learn more about the Santa Monica Sustainable City Plan. The backdrop for the morning walk will be the Pacific Ocean! Please Click Here to learn more about the opportunities.

The event is invitation only and will be comprised of about 100 senior public sector executives, preeminent writers, thought leaders and a select group of private sector firms.
