Remote Done Right: How the GA Dept of Community Supervision Thrives in a Hybrid Environment

In 2012 the state of Georgia faced a significant budget crunch. Needing to slim down expenses, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles offered a radical proposal to the governor: they would do away with a significant amount of office space and move to a nearly fully remote team. The State Board of Pardons and Paroles remains a state agency. The Dept. of Community Supervision is a separate agency created in 2015 to supervise offenders in the community.

In this Coffee Hour, Phil Sellers, CIO at the GA Dept of Community Supervision, will tell us how GA was able to transition a deeply paper based process into a lean and agile, mission-driven operation for significantly less cost than a traditional in-office agency. Join us to hear Phil’s tips, best practices, problems solved, and the lessons he learned along the way. We’ll also see what such a forward thinking agency has planned for the future.
