FREE Government Contracting Workshop for Atlanta Small Business Owners

A recent survey found that small businesses are working harder at securing government contracting opportunities – active small business contractors have invested an average of $103,827 seeking federal contracting opportunities in 2010, an increase of 21% from the previous year. 

To help business owners strengthen their chance to secure contracts, American Express OPEN in partnership with The Contracting Education Academy at Georgia Tech, is hosting a free event in Atlanta on Wednesday, May 16. The American Express OPEN Victory in Procurement: Marketing to the Government” workshop will be held in Tech Square Research Building (TSRB) from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  

The half-day event will teach local businesses how to effectively market their business to the government by sharing best practices from small business owners and procurement experts. Attendees will also participate in hands on training by learning to write sample pitches and receive immediate feedback from panelists and experts.  Small business owners will also learn how to reach out to the appropriate government contact, tips to sharpen their presentation skills and how to perfect marketing materials to help stand apart from the competition.

In November 2009, American Express OPEN launched the Victory in Procurement program, a national initiative to help small businesses at every level of contract readiness gain insight and build relationships that help secure government contracts.
