Impact of the TSA Pipeline Security Directive on the Oil & Gas Sector

In this webinar, Global VP of Solutions Engineering Stephen Santee and Senior Product Manager Gary Kneeland will provide expert OT security insight into how your organization can accelerate its compliance with this new TSA directive.

Specific topics covered will include:

  • The evolving landscape of threats to the oil and gas sector
  • An overview of TSA Pipeline Security Directive SD02C and its key elements
Requirements for the TSA-approved Cybersecurity Implementation Plan
  • Best practices for OT network segmentation and monitoring

In the wake of the May 2021 ransomware attack against Colonial Pipeline, the U.S. government's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued a mandate for implementing critical cybersecurity measures across the oil and gas sector on July 21, 2022. This mandate, Security Directive Pipeline-2021-02C (SD02C), lays out security requirements for owners and operators of critical pipelines and liquified natural gas facilities to reduce the likelihood and potential impact of cyber attacks targeting oil and gas infrastructure.

In a shift from previous TSA directives, SD02C enforces a customizable, performance-based, and streamlined set of security standards that were designed to align with federal pipeline safety regulations.
