Legacy Medical Technology Security: Preventing Cyber Pain in Healthcare

The Health Industry Cybersecurity – Managing Legacy Technology Security (HIC-MaLTS) is a NEW comprehensive resource, organized in modular, actionable components for the management of cyber risk caused by legacy healthcare technologies. HIC-MaLTs has quickly become a go to resource for CISOs, product security teams, and the HTM industry looking to secure their technical debt. The IMDRF has defined a Legacy Medical Device: medical devices that cannot be reasonably protected against current cybersecurity.  Although MDMs are producing more secure devices today, HDOs will be wrestling with legacy devices for at least another decade.

Manufacturers, Health Providers and the FDA met for two years building a bridge of consensus. They established the groundwork for supporting legacy medical technology as a shared responsibility in the clinical environment, and have provided a document containing insights for designing future devices that are more secure.  A myriad of policy, legislation and regulation is being bantered about in an effort to secure these vulnerable network entry points that literally hold patient lives in the balance.  Join us and discover the insights from two years of development by 67 healthcare experts.

In this session, you will:

  • Understand the 4 Core Pillars: Governance, Communications, Cyber Risk Management and Future Proofing.
  • Address the common legacy risk management challenges
  • Leverage the “Responsibility Transfer Framework”
  • Explore Patching and Lifecycle Recommendations
