MOSA for Defense Summit

Defense Strategies Institute’s MOSA for Defense Summit will provide a forum for members of the DoD, Military Services, Industry, Academia, and other key stakeholders to discuss the warfighting imperative of implementing a modular open systems approach (MOSA) in the design, development, delivery, acquisition, and sustainment of modern warfighting systems.

Adversaries are developing advanced warfighting capabilities faster than the U.S. To maintain the competitive edge in an age of rapid change in technology, information, and threat complexity, the United States is mandating a modular open systems approach (MOSA) in the design of complex warfighting systems. To accelerate innovation and the delivery of warfighting systems at the speed of relevance, the United States must continually design, acquire, and sustain next generation capabilities with efficiency and flexibility by using architectures that are modular and open.

Attendees at this year’s event will explore how the DoD is taking steps to implement this technical and business strategy to realize its full benefits of enhanced competition, innovation, interoperability, and cost-effective system design and delivery. Further, the 2024 MOSA for Defense Summit will explore how to integrate MOSA to enable defense capabilities programs to respond more quickly to changing threats by allowing them to add, remove, and replace components and subsystems throughout the system’s life cycle more easily and cost-effectively. Additionally, this year’s event features panels that will explore the role of consortiums in developing and maintaining open standards, the applications of MOSA for EW and C5ISR systems, and how MOSA can advance manned and unmanned air platform design and delivery. Join us at this year’s MOSA for Defense Summit to network with senior leaders and contribute to the discussion focused on advancing open systems architectures and approaches across the DoD.
