Speaker and Presenter Information

James Swanson is currently an independent consultant. He is the former Director, Cargo Security and Controls at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The teams he managed at CBP focused on import and export cargo operations. James was also the Automated Commercial Environment liaison and operational test agent for the Office of Field Operations responsible for requirements development, operations testing, outreach, training, and deployment of ACE cargo subsystems, including manifest (all modes), cargo release, in-bond, foreign trade zone, bonded warehouse, and export (AES and export manifest). Among his other CBP roles were Baltimore Area Port Director, District of Columbia Program Manager/Branch Chief Cargo Release, and Detroit Customs Inspector. James was a frequent presenter at CBP symposiums, AAEI conferences, and various other trade forums.
