Spring Specialty Conference "Agricultural Hydrology and Water Quality II

This event qualifies for 1.5 CEUs

As the 21st Century unfolds, the agricultural community and water resource managers will confront an array of challenges. One of the greatest challenges of the past several decades has been addressing the impacts of agricultural production on nutrient loading to streams and rivers, and the resultant problems with freshwater and coastal eutrophication.

AWRA provides leadership in the national dialogue on agriculture and water resources, both here in the United States, and internationally. These issues are discussed at national meetings, and are critically evaluated in print through peer-reviewed and popular publications. In 2003, AWRA held its first specialty conference on Agricultural Hydrology and Water Quality in Kansas City, Missouri. The results of this meeting were disseminated in 10 articles in the April 2005 issue of the Journal of the American Water Resources Association.

What have we learned in the decade since the 2003 meeting? What emerging issues will we face as we strive for agricultural sustainability in the face of a growing world population, diminishing resources, and a changing climate? We plan on a full, exciting agenda covering a wide range of topics in agricultural hydrology and water quality. The meeting location, St. Louis, Missouri, is most appropriate since it is centrally located in America's heartland.
