IPv6 Summit 2013

IPv6 is critical to the Internet's continued growth as a platform for innovation and economic development. The transition to IPv6 will require collaboration across the Internet industry from Internet service providers, Web companies, hardware vendors and operating system vendors. All major industry players need to take action to ensure products and services are ready for the transition. ISPs need to make IPv6 connectivity available to their users, web companies need to offer their sites and applications over IPv6, operating system vendors may need to implement specific software updates, backbone providers may need to establish IPv6 peering with each other, and hardware and home gateway manufacturers may need to update firmware.

The one-day Security Impact of IPv6 Summit, being held in conjunction with SANSFIRE, will include one-hour discussions and panel dialogues from IPv6 security experts, ISPs, early adopters and vendors from various industries. You will walk away with best practices from some who have already implemented IPv6, in large networks, for a few years.

Speakers will talk about what has worked and what hasn't for a successful deployment of IPv6 and the risks of not implementing IPv6 including increased costs, complexities associated with keeping track of and managing remaining IPv4 address space efficiently and limited functionality online.

The Summit will discuss:

  • What will change?
  • How can you use new security features in IPv6 work to your advantage?
  • What works and doesn't work in real networks?
  • What type of slowdowns or security failures might happen?
  • How will home users who need to connect to your network be impacted by ISPs switching to IPv6?
  • What should I be doing now?
  • How can I secure a smooth transition for my organization?
  • How quick do I need to be ready to implement IPv6?
