An Evening in Cyberspace: Supporting Tomorrow's Cybersecurity Leaders

UMUC'S CYBERSECURITY SCHOLARSHIP GALA RETURNS

Building upon the success of the 2011 scholarship gala, UMUC is pleased to present its second cybersecurity scholarship gala—An Evening in Cyberspace: Supporting Tomorrow's Cybersecurity Leaders. Join us for this special black-tie event to support the next generation of cybersecurity students. The evening will feature a reception, dinner, keynote and entertainment.

UMUC IS CHANGING THE CYBERSECURITY LANDSCAPE

Connecting Cybersecurity Students and Professionals

UMUC's leadership in the cybersecurity arena goes beyond its leading edge undergraduate and graduate programs. The university also continuously creates opportunities to facilitate symbiotic relationships among cybersecurity students and professionals. The cybersecurity scholarship gala is one of those opportunities. Not only does the scholarship gala serve as a critical event for both students and seasoned cybersecurity and information technology professionals, but it also promotes the exchange of cybersecurity innovation and ideas and provides essential scholarship support to students entering this vital field.

Student Success

At the heart of the success of UMUC's cybersecurity programs are its students, many of whom are already balancing families, personal lives and careers when they begin their studies. The majority of UMUC’s graduate cybersecurity students have solid information technology backgrounds, in terms of both undergraduate education and work experience, and many have active security clearances. Students report that their UMUC cybersecurity program is making a difference in their careers by improving their performance, enabling them to take on new assignments in cybersecurity or information assurance, and enhancing their prospects for new job opportunities with their employer. Many also say their program is prompting them to search for a new job in the cybersecurity field.
