Buying the Cloud - Procurement Made Easy

This event qualifies for 3 CPEs

Even though the official holiday season is over, there is still one more gift-giving day on the horizon - Valentine's Day. And we all know buying the perfect present doesn't come easy. You oftentimes have to fight crowds of shoppers, wait in long lines, and pay extra for gift wrapping.

The cloud – four years ago it was the buzzword heard around government, now the cloud is in many ways the norm, but buying the cloud is still a bit tricky. Contracting officials haven’t really caught up to buying a service rather than a product.

Buying the cloud is even trickier. But we can help make it easier.

Deploying any new system–from software, to storage, to infrastructures –used to be a defined cycle requiring months of preparation, installation, and troubleshooting – all before you had even bought the product.

Now, you can initiate a new IT system in a couple of minutes, through a quick download from the cloud. This new model, is rapidly changing the way organizations buy and utilize applications to fulfill their mission. And sure the General Services Administration’s Federal Cloud Computing Initiative Program Management Office and the TechFAR Handbook for Procuring Digital Services are tools to help contracting officers, but if we are being honest, cloud procurement is still pretty confusing.

That's why we're holding a free training event on Thursday, February 19 in Washington, D.C. to discuss how to overcome the unique challenges that come with procuring cloud services.

Please join GovLoop, ViON and Hitachi Data Systems Federal at the upcoming in-person event, Buying the Cloud – Procurement Made Easy, we will talk with government experts about:

  • Common procurement misconceptions
  • What key terms you need to be looking for in a cloud
  • Some common cloud procurement mistakes and how to avoid them
  • How to write procurements in a new way
  • The understanding the different types of Clouds and the different methodologies to procure them
  • How to demystify FedRamp
