How are government agencies buying cloud computing capability with an eye toward data governance? The cloud touts limitless possibilities, but CIOs are putting in place techniques to maintain control of their data and avoid vendor lock-in. As a result, data stewardship has become increasingly complex with the need to manage and access data across the cloud.

This panel will focus on the importance of data governance when creating cloud requirements, and how to navigate when building a cloud contract — what to look for, what to include, and how to safeguard data governance in the process.

We’ll Discuss:

Identify controls from sources such as FEDRamp and the NIST that agencies use to inform data governance policies.
Discuss the organizational structure optimal for data governance, e.g. oversight by CIO, CFO, program manager.
Define the requirements for high security delineated by FEDRamp.
Understand strategies for avoiding vendor lock-in when it comes to storage and cloud providers.
