At the core, an oral presentation is about conveying trust to the audience in a personal and confident manner—people buy from whom they know and trust. Technical facts, data and other information are secondary considerations.  All good presenters know that the main goal is to engage with their audience as to make them feel that they are connected to the presenter and the information they are conveying. On March 31, the Government Contracting Institute (www.GovernmentContractingInstitute.com) will present an in-person course entitled “Building Trust Through Powerful Oral Presentations.”

The course will be led by Dr. Robert S. Frey of Successful Proposal Strategies, LLC. In just the past seven years, Dr. Frey has been instrumental in helping his clients attain $5.26 billion in funded, multi-year contracts with a number of agencies. His article “Section M is King,” received a highly-sought after spot in the November 2015 edition of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Journal.

In “Building Trust Through Powerful Oral Presentations,” Dr. Frey will teach an approach that can result in a high probability of winning new and recompete business.

“We attended three classes at the Government Contracting Institute and within a year we grew our revenue by over $1 million,” said Bill Belknap of aEONRG, “I directly attribute that growth to attending Government Contracting Institute classes. The return on investment that we achieved was 335:1 and counting! Thank you TargetGov for the Government Contracting Institute.”

The course will cover a number of topics including:

  • Oral Presentations as a forum for “two complementary conversations—”the speaker and the slide.
  • What it takes to increase the Probability of Winning (Pwin) Oral Presentations.
  • Emphasizing and illustrating Evidence of STRENGTHS in the Oral Presentation slide deck.
  • The multiple types of Oral Presentations in the Federal marketspace.
  • The importance of knowing an audience and their hopes, fears, biases, critical issues, and factors for success.
  • Structuring and organizing the Oral Presentation slide deck.
  • Balancing total slide count and time allotment.
  • “Signposting—” tangibly linking the slide deck outline to the Federal Government’s solicitation document.
  • Proven approaches for mapping slides to speakers, messages, and key graphics.
  • Techniques for thinking graphically.
  • Converting narrative into graphics-centered Oral Presentation slides in an efficient manner.
  • Developing timing estimates for slides and presenters.
  • Crafting tightly integrated messaging for the Oral Presentation Team.

After the course, attendees will have documented, proven practices that can be immediately applied and increased confidence as “front-and-center” presenters. Attendees will also receive electronic files which include examples of slides from winning oral presentations; templates and frameworks for conceptualizing and building compelling slides; and immediately usable, field-proven “Guidance for Powerful Oral Presentations.”
