Defense and Government Cloud Computing Symposium - Advancing Efficiency, Agility, and Innovation in the Cloud Environment

DSI’s Defense and Government Cloud Computing Symposium is designed as an educational and training “Town Hall” forum, where thought leaders and key policy-makers across military and civilian organizations can come together for actionable discussions and debate. The symposium’s overall theme will focus on DOD & Federal IT plans to maximize the potential uses of cloud computing through data center consolidation. Within specific key areas: Reforming Government IT financial, acquisition, and contracting policy and practices to improve agility and reduce costs, Consolidate and virtualize legacy applications and data, incorporating a core cloud infrastructure into data center consolidation.

The thought leadership and community goal of this event is to advance establishment of enterprise cloud infrastructures to benefit the warfighter, federal IT personnel and keep pace with changing technology.

- Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program- Use of the NIST cloud reference architecture as well as agency involvement in standards are necessary for cloud procurements- Expanding infrastructure to support wireless and mobile capabilities- Providing decision frameworks and case examples to support agencies in migrating towards cloud computing

- Shutting down and consolidating under-performing data centers and optimizing the data centers in the Federal inventory

- Warfighter Protection and Reducing interference with operational platforms and communications

- E-Discovery & the Cloud: Ensuring data stored in a CSP environment is available for legal discovery
