Human Language Technology Showcase (HLT)

In a partnership with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Foreign Language Program Office, the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Center for Language, Regional Expertise and Culture (LREC) is proud to present the Intelligence Community Human Language Technology (HLT) Showcase.  The Showcase will be comprised of language technology vendors, suppliers, integrators, user communities of HLT, and government research and development organizations.  The purpose of this event is to focus the interests of language technology professionals into one venue to display, demonstrate, and discuss the language tools and technologies that are being employed now and/or will benefit the Intelligence Community (IC) in the future.  Representatives from various Intelligence Agencies will also be attending this event.

The Showcase will be taking place from 8:30a.m. to 3:00p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 on-site at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, DC.  The following areas of HLT will be included, but are not limited to:

• Language Learning & Education
• Machine Translation
• Foreign Language Speech
• Language-in-Image Technologies
• In-language Information Discovery
• Linguist Aids
• Translation Service Provider

Numerous vendors are integrating their tools and services into the IC collection and exploitation platforms and workflows and are generally seamless to the entire DIA business process.  Identifying where foreign language technologies provide value and benefit is important to ensuring accurate requirements management, efficiencies of costs, and coordination of effort.  Attendees will have the opportunity to network, share ideas, ask questions to industry experts, and engage in hands on demonstrations.  We hope to see you there!
