Implementation of eCall: London

Following the success of Russia’s ERA GLONASS, the European Commission have called for mandatory M2M systems to feature in all automobiles by 2015. This system will be known as Pan European eCall.

Description: eCall is a pan-European in-vehicle emergency call service based on 112, the common European Emergency number. In the event of an accident, data automatically transmitted through the eCall system, whilst a voice call is set up, allowing emergency services to assist vehicle drivers and passengers more precisely and quickly, thus helping to save lives and to treat injuries rapidly.

SMi's masterclass hosted by Gemalto M2M ERTICO ITS-Europe will give attendees an exclusive insight into the status of the HeERO projects, the issues in the legislation and standardisation of eCall, opportunities for retrofitted solutions, the current status of ERA GLONASS and an insight into some lessons learnt.

Who Should Attend: With the first stage of the HeERO project drawing to a close in December 2013, the first 9 European countries will have completed pre-deployment of the eCall system. And, with a further 6 countries participating in the second phase of the project, spanning a two year period from January 2013, this Masterclass will give attendees an exclusive insight into the status of the HeERO projects, the issues in the legislation and standardisation of eCall, opportunities for retrofitted solutions, the current status of ERA GLONASS and an insight into some lessons learnt.
